The moment we have all been waiting for is finally here: the SharePoint 2019 Public Preview is finally out! Today, we are very proud and excited to bring you a first preview version of SharePointDSC 3.0 which will fully support SharePoint 2019. The SharePointDSC 3.0 branch is available for download on our main GitHub repository at: https://github.com/PowerShell/SharePointDsc/tree/v3.0-development. Just like the previous major version of the DSC module, version 3.0 introduces some breaking changes as well as support for new features. The most important breaking changes is probably the introduction of new key parameter IsSingleInstance on resources from the Specific category (resources that should only ever appear once per server in the script). This change is inline with the broader DSCResources best practices initiative.
The plan is to have SharePointDSC 3.0 officially released sometimes in the fall, when SharePoint 2019 hits General Availability (GA). SharePointDSC.Reverse will also be updated at the same time to support the 3.0 release. This means that you will be able to perform deployment tests by extracting the DSC script out of your existing SharePoint 2016 environments, and replicate them as 2019 farm within a few clicks to perform tests. As always, we welcome your feedback on the official SharePointDSC GitHub Repository. Simply open issues and the team will make sure to address your feedback items in a timely fashion.
